This 10-months part-time programme is suitable for executives who wish to be technically equipped for managerial positions in the fund management & administration industry. The programme consists of 6 modules to be taken over 3 terms.
In Module 1, “Financial Instruments & Transactions”, the curriculum aims to provide participants with a broad-based understanding and knowledge of financial transactions and instruments such as shares, bonds, option, futures.
In Module 2, “Fund Administration & Accounting”, the curriculum aims to provide participants with a basic understanding of the accounting principles and concepts with respect to fund administration as well as an understanding of the accounting and valuation aspects of the various types of investment instruments. The module will also discuss professional ethics, corporate governance and code of conducts. Students will have a fundamental understanding of fund structures, international fund jurisdiction and role of fund administrator. Participants are also provided with an overview of regulatory framework and the key regulations and legislation applicable to the financial services industry in Singapore.
In Module 3, “Alternative Investments & Hedge Funds”, the curriculum aims to provide participants with a basic understanding of alternative investments like ETFs, Commodities, Managed Futures, Credit Derivatives, private Equity, Real Estates and hedge Funds. Participants will be given an overview of regulations governing Collective Investment Schemes (CIS) in Singapore and Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) in Europe.
In Module 4,” Global Securities Operations”, the curriculum aims to provide participants an understanding of securities industry and the various stakeholders, especially the operations of a custodian. Participants will gain an understanding of the process of settlement and custody, asset servicing and other value added services.
In Module 5, “Risk Management”, the curriculum aims to provide participants with an understanding of operation risks encountered in financial services industry in general, and in fund operations and administration in particular. Participants will gain the fundamental understanding of major risk categories such as market risk, credit risk and operational risk and the process of error management and risk mitigation.
In Module 6, “Integrated Project”, participants will have opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of various aspects of fund management and administration which are covered in various modules and apply their skills in a project work.
