Programme Synopsis

The SMU FICS Training in Trade Finance (IV) aims to provide participants with the essential competencies in structuring and marketing trade finance products & services to corporate clients.

The curriculum focuses on the application of trade finance product knowledge, such as product development and market positioning, structuring trade finance facilities to meet clients’ needs.

The programme comprises of the following modules:
Module Title
1 Essentials of Trade Finance
2 Assess & Develop Trade Finance Products
3 Structure Trade Finance Facilities
4 Servicing Clients’ Trade Finance Needs

 

Unique features
Case studies and discussions are used to provide participants with hands-on experience in the job function, which serves to reinforce the technical knowledge and application of competency skills.

 

Trainer(s)
Trainers are banking professionals, with extensive industry experience, well-versed in conducting training programmes in corporate lending, credit approval, trade finance, sales and marketing.

Programme duration : 6 months
Next intake : 9 Jan – 26 Jun 2010
Class schedule : Thursday evenings and/or Saturdays
Venue: Singapore Management University campus

Scope of Accreditation
The programme is accredited under Job Role IV. A person in this role would have the following job responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing a limited specialist and support role in the trade finance product specialist function.
• Possesses some personal accountability, decision-making authority and risk management skills but has limited bottom-line responsibility.
• Operates in an environment which is largely non-routine, unpredictable and complex.

Who should attend?

Trade finance sales and support officers, relationship managers, branch managers, corporate lending officers, internal auditors, management associates. Participants not working in trade finance department should preferably have at least 2 to 3 years of corporate banking experience.
