Programme Synopsis

The SMU FICS Training: Fund Management Foundation Programme (IV) is an introductory programme focusing on the basic fundamentals of the fund management industry, key asset classes and investment products.

The curriculum looks at principles of fund management, overview of the investment process, roles of key players in the investment industry, job functions in the fund management value chain and industry practices.

 

Unique features
Practical and essential knowledge, calculation and valuation methodology will be taught in lectures. Exercises and class discussions are included to reinforce the technical knowledge and application.

 

Trainer(s)
The team of trainers comprises veteran fund management professionals with extensive experience in portfolio management, marketing, operations, investment, research and advisory.

2nd intake: 5 Jan – 4 Feb 2010
Class schedule: Every Tues and Thu evenings
Venue: Singapore Management University campus

Scope of Accreditation
The programme is accredited under Job Role IV. A person in this role would have the following job responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing a specialist role in a fund administration function.
• Assumes limited supervisory oversight responsibilities for a group of fund administration junior staff.
• Possesses some personal accountability, decision-making authority and risk management skills.
• Operates in an environment which is largely routine, predictable and complex.

Who should attend?

New entrants in the fund management industry, research assistants, junior analysts, associates. Non- finance graduates and working professionals seeking to learn more about the investment industry and asset classes may be admitted on a case by case basis. Minimum of bachelor's degree required.
