Trainer(s)

∉ Nelson Salita, Omega Performance senior facilitator for the Asian region, has taught extensively throughout Asia for Citibank’s Asia Pacific Banking Institute and for numerous other banks and is a consultant to the Asian Development Bank. He holds Masters Degrees from both the University of Illinois and from Pennsylvania State University.

∉ Phil Forrest, Omega Performance Managing Director Singapore, has worked in banking in Asia since 1982, initially for Citibank in Manila, Jakartaand Bangkok, where he was Wholesale Bank country head, then as Head of South and South East Asia for Natwest Markets, and most recently as Asia Head for ANZ Bank based in Singapore.

 

Programme Details

Topics covered include:
∉ Opportunity Assessment includes an introduction to commercial lending and the asset conversion cycle and provides a framework for comprehensive risk analysis.
∉ Borrowing Causes teaches participants to probe into the real reasons behind a borrower’s loan requests, so that they will be able to better understand the risks in lending to a company, structure a loan appropriately, and anticipate the borrower’s needs.
∉ Industry Risk Analysis addresses changes in the environment in which the borrower operates by examining the economic, market, demographic, and other forces that are generally outside the borrower’s or the lender’s control.
∉ Business Risk Analysis helps participants analyse how well a borrower’s management team is dealing with the risks inherent in the industry.
∉ Loan Management explains the loan grading process and the importance of policies and procedures.
∉ Financial Statement Analysis teaches participants to interpret financial statements as a reflection of the entire range of a company’s operations, from sales and distribution to purchasing.
∉ Cash Flow Analysis describes how lenders cancel the effects of accrual accounting to see a company’s cash dynamics—its cash inflows and outflows—as an important component of repayment source analysis.
∉ Projections teaches participants to integrate their historical industry, business and financial statement analysis information into a forecast of future cash flow available for loan repayment.
∉ Loan Structuring helps participants decide how and under what conditions they would be willing to lend to the customer.
∉ Product Analysis teaches the implications for credit decision-making.

Omega Performance has been accredited by IBF as a FICS training provider in the area of Corporate Banking, Credit Analysis and Approval, JRV. Omega Performance’s Commercial Loans to Business—Job Role V is fully accredited under FICS. Funding Support for this Workshop: Singapore-based financial institutions and individuals may obtain 90% funding support on the course fee from the Financial Sector Development Fund (FSDF) administered by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, subject to terms and conditions.

Scope of Accreditation
The programme is accredited under Job Role V. A person in this role would have the following job responsibilities:

• Operates in an environment which is largely non-routine, unpredictable and complex.
