Master of Applied Finance degree

Programme Synopsis

Macquarie Applied Finance Centre was established in 1980, and our Masters program is now the largest applied finance postgraduate degree in the world. With more than 1200 students enrolled in 2009, it is widely recognised as the industry leader in postgraduate financial education. Our Master of Applied Finance Singapore program has been taught for over 17 years. Our local partner is the School of Financial Services and Risk Management of Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI).

Students who complete specific unit requirements (set out below) in their Masters study, are eligible for FICS accreditation.

 

Unique features

The course structure and program content have been designed to ensure you learn how finance works in the real world, not just theory. The program is portable across all our teaching locations in Australia and overseas and allows you to specialise in areas such as funds management, risk management, corporate finance and instruments and valuation. We are a program partner of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute and an accredited degree program with the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA). The Masters degree is also a qualifying post-graduate program under the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Finance Scholarship Program.

Our teaching staff have advanced academic qualifications as well as many years senior practical experience in the finance industry.

 

Programme Details

Duration: 2 years part-time

Intake: January each year

Unit Requirements: Investments, Financial Risk Management, Applied Portfolio Management, Risk and Portfolio Construction.

Programme Fees

Fees: Approximately S$28,640^ before funding

Approximately S$22,640^ after funding

^ unit fees are subject to change annually

 

Scope of Accreditation
The programme is accredited under Job Role IV. A person in this role would have the following job responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing a limited specialist and support role in portfolio management function.
• Possesses some personal accountability and decision-making authority.
• Operates in an environment which is largely non-routine, unpredictable and complex.

Entry requirements: Undergraduate degree plus a minimum of two years' relevant work experience
