Programme Synopsis

The SMU FICS Training in Portfolio Performance Measurement (V) aims to provide participants with the essential competencies to measure and report on portfolio and composite investment returns using industry accepted methodology and reporting of risk and return attribution.

The curriculum focuses on return calculation methodologies, composite construction and benchmarking, portfolio performance analysis, performance disclose and presentation.

The programme comprises of the following modules:

Case studies and exercises are used to provide participants with hands-on experience in the job function, to reinforce the technical knowledge and application of competency skills.

 

Trainer(s)

Teo Mon Kean, CFA, CIPM
Mon Kean has over 20 years in the funds management industry. He is the head of Performance & Risk Management of a major asset management company, responsible for setting policies and methodologies in performance and attribution. He is instrumental in the automation of the firm's performance data and the creation of performance composites. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (1st Class Honours) and a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Scope of Accreditation
The programme is accredited under Job Role V. A person in this role would have the following job responsibilities:

• Performs a specialist function in performance measurement under fund management industry segment.
• Possesses a high degree of personal accountability, decision-making authority and risk management skills.
• Operates in an environment which is largely non-routine, unpredictable and complex.

Who should attend?

Portfolio managers, investment analyst, performance analyst, custodians, middle officers, business development and marketing officers, auditors, plan sponsors. Minimum of bachelor’s degree required, preferably at least 2 years of working experience of the investment management industry.
