Programme Synopsis

The SMU FICS Training: Portfolio Construction & Management (IV) aims to provide participants with the essential competencies in model portfolio construction, portfolio management, review and rebalancing.

The curriculum focuses on the practical aspects in investment research, portfolio construction and management, and development of investment strategies according to clients’ investment objectives and guidelines.

 

Unique features

Exercises and role play are used to reinforce the technical knowledge and application of competency skills. Participants are also guided on the construction of different portfolios according to investment mandates from clients, to provide participants with hands-on experience in the job function.

Our trainers are senior investments professionals with experience across the fund management value chain, specializing in financial advisory, research and investment.

Class schedule: Classes held on Saturdays

Scope of Accreditation
The programme is accredited under Job Role IV. A person in this role would have the following job responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing a limited specialist and support role in portfolio management function.
• Possesses some personal accountability and decision-making authority.
• Operates in an environment which is largely non-routine, unpredictable and complex.

Who should attend?

Investment analysts, assistants to fund managers, trading desk personnel, performance analysts, business development and marketing professionals, plan sponsors. Minimum bachelor's degree required with at least 1-2 years of relevant investment or banking experience.
